Building Vs Renovating – Weighing Up Your Options

Making the decision on building or renovating can be quiet daunting at times and a difficult one to make! As people that have been in this same predicament, here are a few tips that we considered when making our decision.

1.  Cost

The first thing people always consider before they commence their project.  If your planning a major extension, one thing to remember is a basic lowset new home can be built for between $250,000-$300,00.

2. The reason for change

What is the reason you need to change?  Is your family growing?  Are you wanting to modernize your home? Are things falling apart around the house?  Or do you just need a change?

3. Can your current house be renovated

If those ornate ceilings, VJ walls and polished floors are too pretty to waste then renovating is definitely  the way to go.  There is great satisfaction in making old new again!

4. Do you want to move?

You love the street and maybe your neighbours! But most importantly you love the suburb you live in.  Renovating to stay can sometimes be easier and give you a lot more value for money.

There are amazing things people can do to make your old house new, but it is always great to create something from a clean slate also!
