Drab to Fab in 3 Weeks – Greenslopes Renovation

When you have an eye for renovating and design, you are able to visualize a properties true beauty even at it’s worst state.  Our Greenslopes renovation was probably one of the worst properties we have seen, but we still managed to bring this house back to life in just 3 weeks!

Introducing our Greenslopes renovation. A property left vacant for a number months. The walls a lovely stained yellow. The carpet and curtains rich with dirt, dust and cobwebs, and not to mention the smell that could knock you flat on your back once you opened the front door! It was horrendous..  But we could not wait to get stuck into it!

We had set ourselves a goal to try and knock this renovation over in 3 weeks. The budget on this renovation was also very minimal, so we depended on our trusty local Bunnings store for most of the renovation.

Week 1 involved demolition, prep work for painting and painting. We are lucky enough to have a great trade network and our awesome painters from Carmona Colours Painting & Decorating had the whole house painted with in 2 days.

Week 2 was floors, kitchen and bathroom week. Carpet was removed and floors sanded and polished. We installed a flat pack Kaboodle Kitchen (www.kaboodle.com.au) and timber benchtops selected from Bunnings. All bathroom fittings were also supplied from Bunnings. To save on cost, the lovely pink bath was not removed and just painted. We used White Knight Tub and Basin Paint to paint the bath and it looked great! Our tile selections for the bathroom & kitchen were supplied by Stone 3 Tiles and Stone (www.stone3.com.au) and laid by our tilers at Versatile. We were lucky enough to have some left over timber bench top from the kitchen, so we removed the melamine vanity top, and replaced this with timber and new drop in basin.

Week 3 – A week of finishing touches. Electrical fittings were replaced by Active Electrical Services (www.activeelectricalservices.com.au) and plumbing fit off by K-Oz Plumbing (www.kozplumbing.com.au). Carpet supplied and installed by CVT Floor Centre (www.cvtfloorcentre.com.au) and roller blinds installed.  All in all we are so pleased with the end result of this project and even more chuffed at the time frame that it was completed in!
